Why Them? Peak behind the curtain of Comcast’s formidable IP infrastructure and you’ll find these two tech wizards. Both joined the company in 2006, and both have been transformative. Werner oversees the company’s entire tech strategy, evolving network architecture that includes supporting next-generation consumer systems and technologies, infrastructure and engineering, network integration and management tools, and technical standards. In layman’s terms, he’s the driving force behind Comcast’s burgeoning cloud-enabled platform, among other endeavors. Before Schanz came onboard, Comcast’s video, voice and data traffic ran on separate fiber networks. As architect of the company’s hefty converged backbone that transmits more than 4 terabits per second of data every week, he’s a big part of why Comcast now delivers nationwide IP connectivity that blends TV, broadband and apps across multiple devices. ?
