Why Him? Hopkins sparked his lifelong interest in athletics when he played Little League Baseball. Today, he’s an avid runner, which helps the exec maintain the stamina needed to accelerate Fox Networks’ continued growth. Over the last year, the veteran Fox executive oversaw the renewals of major distribution deals including retransmission consent, cable renewals and TV Everywhere agreements with DirecTV and Comcast. Fox’s cable segment continues to drive overall company financial results, generating 60% of News Corp.’s segment operating income. Second quarter 2013 cable operating income increased 7% over last year. Later this year, Hopkins will add another major stint to his playbook: Overseeing the launch of FX spinoff FXX, a new network aimed at young adult viewers.
