Corning Cable Systems has announced that its outside plant loose tube and ribbon fiber-optic cables will continue to be listed on the Informational Publication 344-2, List of Materials Acceptable for Use on Systems of United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Telecommunications Borrowers.

The continued listing was approved by the USDA’s Technical Standards Committee "A"-Telecommunications after a review of information that Corning Cable Systems provided regarding its outside plant loose tube, all-dielectric, self-supporting, ribbon and service drop fiber-optic cables. The Code of Federal Regulations section 7 CFR 1755.900 includes a new mid-span buffer tube test that confirms the low-temperature performance of coiled buffer tubes installed in closures and pedestals.

In addition, Technical Standards Committee "A"-Telecommunications will continue listing Corning Cable Systems gel-free ribbon cables without any limiting condition.
