At the Broadband World Forum conference in Paris, France, Qualcomm Atheros, the networking subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and EDIMAX Technology announced the availability of a new carrier-grade video-over-wireless (VoW) bridge based on the Qualcomm Atheros AR9580 chip.

The EDIMAX WV-A900APN enables carrier-grade multi-HD video streaming throughout the home.

Qualcomm Atheros’ three-stream 802.11n solutions are optimized for high-performance VoW applications. The AR9580 integrates Qualcomm Atheros’ signal-sustain technology to virtually eliminate packet loss, thereby minimizing latency. The resulting bridge provides a better experience for end users due to a number of quality-of-service enhancements, including transmit buffering, video stream optimization and range improvement.?

"We believe the new VoW bridge will help to make wireless HD video a reality for a broader group of users, as our carrier customers can now more quickly deliver services with exponentially better streaming performance," said Leon Lin, vice president of EDIMAX, in a statement.
