BlackArrow senior vice president/Business Development David Stengle will present a technical paper, Tying TV Advertising to Action: Leveraging the Second Screen to Raise the Effectiveness & Measurability of TV Advertising, during the “Targeted Ads: Harnessing the Power of Interactivity” technology session next Saturday at IBC 2012 in Amsterdam on Sept. 8. Stengle will address solutions that are compliant with SCTE 130/ITU-T Recommendation J.380 standards and how they transform the value of second screens for MPVDs and their customers…Alcatel-Lucent and Concurrent will unveil a joint offering enabling cablecos to expand the number and variety of on-demand videos they can offer by using Alcatel-Lucent’s Velocix CDN technology and Concurrent’s MediaHawk Unified Origin and TV-VOD Edge Servers…Pixelmetrix has added to its Pelican family of video encoders. All Pelican models – Pelican-Analog, Pelican-SD and Pelican-HD – support live IP streaming from the built-in Ethernet port. Prices for Pelican start at $2,950 for analog, and less than 4,000 for HD…Appear TV will demo for the first time its new multiscreen and OTT solutions based on its modular head-end architecture, including a range of encoding and transcoding solutions…According to QoS/QoE experts Digital Nirvana and Venera Technologies, the former leveraged the latter’s test-and-measurement components within Digital Nirvana’s flagship Monitor IQ broadcast monitoring solution, and the result will be demo’s on the show floor…Vanguard Software Solutions (VSS), a provider of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC CODEC technology since 2004, is promoting a new generation of encoders based on HEVC (H.265), the Draft International Standard approved by the Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC) this past July. The VSS encoder, optimized for real-time performance on PC platforms, comes with built-in cloud scalability, and it encodes video at lower bitrates than H.264/MPEG-4 AVC while maintaining similar quality levels, the company says…Viaccess-Orca will introduce the Data Enrichment and Engagement Platform (DEEP), a second-screen content-engagement platform, and the P2P Tracker, a service addressing new levels of Web piracy operators current face. François Moreau de Saint-Martin also will participate on the "Will The Same Players Shoot Again In The OTT World?" panel set for Sept. 8 at 11:30 a.m.
