Active distributed antenna systems (DAS) equipment revenues are estimated to top $1 billion by 2013, notes ABI Research; active DAS equipment is mostly made up of headend and remote units. The global market for in-building wireless equipment is estimated to reach $2 billion by 2013, with active DAS contributing 50 percent of the total revenues. The other half includes passive DAS, repeaters, cabling and antennas. The North American region is the strongest market for active DAS, growing at 20 percent annually; passive DAS equipment revenue, on the other hand, is growing at only 6 percent…Voice Over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) -related spending during the past four quarters surpassed $200 million on such devices as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Core devices and Telephony Application Servers, says Dell’Oro Group. The $1.5 billion carrier voice market, on the other hand, is experiencing challenges as service providers evaluate this new infrastructure architecture and as the number of new voice subscribers slows. Comments analyst Chris DePuy, "In the third-quarter 2012, we now have three operators commercially operating VoLTE services. The success of these services will very likely influence the continued adoption of VoLTE by other operators.”
