A white paper written by Infinera and Verizon (click here for more information) details the results of a test of real-time polarization mode dispersion (PMD) performance using Infinera’s coherent optical transmission based on 500 Gigabit per second (Gb/s) photonic integrated circuits (PICs)…The BCM51030 devices with VersaLine Digital-Pre-Distortion technology from Broadcom deliver bandwidth support for wireless base stations and emerging HetNet radio applications, offering “the full functionality of a digital front end (DFE) platform on a single chip with up to 10x wider bandwidth support to address fragmented spectrum,” the company says. Key features: It adapts automatically to any signal combination of MC-GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE and LTE-A; TX and RX processing includes digital upconversion (DUC), crest factor reduction (CFR), digital predistortion (DPD) and digital downconversion (DDC); and it includes dual-channel and quad-channel devices that can be chained together as many as16 channel systems. The BCM51030 is now sampling with volume production slated for December…MobileForce AP, an in-wall mobile-access solution from Futura Mobility, uses Power Over Ethernet (PoE) to bring wireless Internet to hardwired enterprises and healthcare facilities. The device installs in a standard wall jack and works via existing CAT5/6 wires to provide a secure wireless access point. The fully programmable product provides such security features as the ability to create as many as seven SSIDs and profiles to help ensure privacy and data segregation. It can be programmed via the Web interface, and it connect both wireless and wired network devices…According to Comcast, it not only delivers the nation’s fastest Internet, it now also provides the fastest in-home Wi-Fi with its latest Xfinity Wireless Gateway. The operator says a recent competitive analysis conducted by Allion Test Labs found the new gateway, which combines a customer’s wireless router, cable modem and voice adapter into an all-in-one device, “outperformed wireless gateways commonly offered by two other Internet service providers in both speed and range by providing approximately 155 Mbps of wireless bandwidth. The results confirm Comcast customers are able to get the fastest in-home Wi-Fi speeds and best performance from their connected devices.”
