Multiscreen-services aggregator UXP Systems plans to release version 2.5 of its Multiscreen Interaction Platform (MINT) to coincide with the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2012 Conference in Orlando. Features will include extended abstraction for services leveraging OAuth, SAML, LDAP and other authentication protocols; an integrated presence engine to support companion devices, interactive and blended real-time experiences; and extended generic data models for video-on-demand, leveraging CableLabs specs, for integration of multiple-third party VoD services into an operator’s TV Everywhere offerings…Two new offering from fiber-management provider Clearfield Inc. aim to improve density and to ease of fiber access, enabling customers to scale operations along with growing subscriber revenues: the Clearview Blue, the latest generation Clearview Cassette, and the FieldSmart FxHD, a high-density fiber-distribution system. Clearview Blue can be purchased individually or assembled in Clearview Building Blocks of two or more cassettes (24 ports or more) to configure to exact port count specifications. Installation for FieldSmart FxHD is compatible alongside current generation FxDS frame line-ups as well as with other 19-in. or 23-in. frame solutions…The OmniConverter GPoE/SE Gigabit Ethernet media converter with Power over Ethernet (PoE) from Omnitron Systems Technology converts 1000BASE-X fiber to 10/100/1000 UTP and functions as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) by injecting PoE through the RJ-45 port…Adding to its line of Soft Decision Forward Error Correction (FEC) cores for 100/200G optical communications, ViaSat Inc. is shipping a Multichannel AES-256/128 bit Security IP Core that consists of a comprehensive set of pre-integrated security functions customers can implement into FPGA or ASIC designs. Key specs for the security core include a100 Gbps data interface; single-byte-per-frame overhead; and a built-in, non-deterministic, random number generator to generate Traffic Encryption Keys (TEKs)…China’s TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Limited says all of its 3D smart-cloud TVs are equipped with dual-core CPUs, dual-core GPUs and the Android 4.0+ system. The group also launched the Cloud Ping2 V6500 series, what it says is the first dual-core 4D dual-display smart-cloud TV in the world, and the Cloud Chang E4500 series, the first dual-core Smart Cloud TV to feature a KTV function…The IDEAL SignalTEK II multifunctional handheld cable and network qualifier reportedly will validate that copper or fiber cabling is capable of supporting bandwidth-heavy voice, data, video and IP-based video surveillance applications over 10/100 Megabit or Gigabit Ethernet. The device then generates documentation verifying network connectivity and job completion to initiate customer payment. A bi-directional "pass/fail" test of a network’s links based on IEEE 802.3ab determines whether the installed cable can support higher-bandwidth applications…The PRS1021 Low Power 60 GHz Transceiver from Canada’s Peraso Technologies Inc. targets such emerging mobile apps as multi-gigabit wireless I/O and high-definition wireless display. The device includes 7mm x 7mm x 0.6mm package with integrated antennas, transmit power consumption of 310mW at 16.5 dBm EIRP and receive power consumption of 270 mW. It is compatible with the WiGig Version 1.1 and Draft IEEE 802.11ad specifications, at PHY data rates in excess of 2.5 Gb/s…SBTV is a new platform from Inmarsat that enables airlines to provide real-time and updated on-demand entertainment content to passengers’ own devices. News, sports and other video content is transmitted to the aircraft over the SwiftBroadband network and then distributed wirelessly to passengers’ own devices, which can include smartphones, laptops, tablets and other personal players. SBTV can be deployed quickly at low cost to the airline, and it may be integrated on existing Wi-Fi or IFE systems, the operator notes, adding more than 24 airlines have selected Inmarsat technology for in-flight connectivity, including British Airways, Emirates, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and TAM Airlines. More than half of the world’s A380 fleet is equipped with Inmarsat SwiftBroadband.
