Apple was granted a set-top box patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office yesterday. According to the company, the device would allow Apple TV devices to work with cable TV, and the STB also would enable the recording of live TV content…The Juno T41 handheld computer from Trimble, available next month, includes a choice of the Windows Embedded Handheld or the Android Gingerbread operating system. Other features include a multi-touch user interface with capacitive stylus compatibility, 8 MP camera with dual LED flash and geo-tagging, and as much as 16 GB non-volatile onboard flash storage plus a microSD card slot…Sub10 Systems, a U.K.-based developer and manufacturer of fiber-thru-the-air wireless data links, unveiled the its Liberator E-1000 small cell that will operate in the 70 GHz-80GHz E-band range to deliver high-speed, high-capacity wireless data links over distances as far as 4.5 kilometers. The millimeter-wave Liberator links operate in unlicensed RF spectrum in many markets…The “Carrier Identification Ready Logo” initiative backed by the Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) reportedly will allow encoder and modulator manufacturers to display the Carrier ID Ready logo on both Carrier-ID capable products and on marketing material. The yellobrik DVD 1823 reclocking DA distributes any SDI signal from 270 Mbps to 2.97 Gbps, including DVB-ASI signals…Alcatel-Lucent’s One Touch Premiere premium messaging phone first will be offered by U.S. Cellular as part of the carrier’s new monthly data service option, Messaging Plus. The phone feature an enhanced messaging and mobile Web experience that includes pre-loaded applications and access to weather, maps, navigation, email, Web browsing and social media.
