MEL Telecom, headquartered in South Korea but with offices in California inked a strategic business contract with Canada’s AEPONyX to initiate sales and marketing of the what it says is the world’s first Carrier Ethernet platform based on WDM-PON technologies. The Media Cross(x) Connect (MxC)-80 is a 40-channel Carrier Ethernet transponder shelf featuring unique wavelength and media cross-connect capabilities to bridge CWDM and 1000BaseT networks with WDM-PON networks. The MxC-80 is available immediately via the sales channels of AEPONyX from North America first…LocaLoop Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary SynKro Southwest, signed a five-year contract to expand SynKro 4G wireless fixed and mobile broadband Internet service to eight rural communities and surrounding areas in southwestern Minnesota. The contract with Southwest Minnesota Broadband Services (SMBS) follows a successful six-month trial installation in Bingham Lake and the continued network build out and testing for the other seven rural communities…SOLiD has been selected by Transit Wireless to support a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to provide wireless coverage and capacity throughout the New York City Subway System, including underground stations, mezzanines and corridors. Once completed, the wireless network will transmit signal to all mobile devices anywhere within the system for passengers and transit employees as well as for emergency and public safety personnel who also rely on commercial wireless devices in addition to their radios. The multi-year project includes 277 stations, 30 of which are scheduled to go live by the end of 2012. The initial 30-DAS rollout includes such major stations as Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Columbus Circle.
