UTStarcom Holdings Corp. in Beijing today closed its previously announced divestiture of its IPTV business as part of a board plan to transition the company into higher growth, more profitable areas…SaskTel wrapped its deployment of Westell Technologies’ 1900 model Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Interface Panels in its network, and the Canadian operator says the gear already has improved network performance and operational efficiency. The Westell 1900 DAS Interface Panel enables SaskTel to monitor and adjust both the “transmit” and “receive” power levels without disconnecting from the BTS or the DAS head end, keeping the DAS consistently up and running at required service levels…Zhone Technologies Inc. announced a new MXK deployment with Access Media 3 (AM3), a triple-play service provider to multi-tenant residential properties in the Chicago, Georgia, Minneapolis/St. Paul, South Florida, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington, D.C., markets…Published reports say Nokia Siemens Networks soon will sell its Business Support Systems (BSS) unit, and there are several suitors, including Ericsson, Amdocs and several private-equity companies. Such a deal could be worth an estimated $388 million.
