Canoe Expands Technology Team
Canoe Ventures has hired four executives to deepen its bench of technology, architecture, data management and product management expertise. The appointments include:
- Joel Hassell, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Technical Operations
- Bruce Dilger, Vice President, Advanced Advertising Architecture
- Domenic Centofanti, Vice President, Data Architecture & Metrics
- Michael Iacovelli, Vice President, Platform & Product Development
Joel Hassell is based in Canoe Ventures’ Denver office and reports to Chief Operating Officer Kathy Timko. In his new position, Hassell will be responsible for all aspects of technology development and deployment at Canoe. He replaces Steve Reynolds, interim Senior Vice President of Engineering, who is returning to Comcast.
Hassell most recently served as Chief Technology Officer of Digiforge, a technology consulting firm he founded to support the cable industry. Prior to Digiforge, Hassell led engineering development and deployment efforts behind Dish Network’s advanced interactive advertising solution and was Founder and CEO of Intellocity. Furthermore, as General Manager at OpenTV, Hassell led the company’s Americas Division where he was responsible for development and deployment of OpenTV’s advanced advertising business, focusing on inventory management, interactive advertising and targeted addressable solutions.
Bruce Dilger and Domenic Centofanti join Canoe’s Office of the CTO, reporting to Chief Technology Officer Arthur Orduña, and the pair will help drive the development of the company’s forward-looking technology platform and products and services.
As the senior technology architect, Dilger is responsible for developing and improving the technical strategies and architecture surrounding Canoe’s advanced television systems. In this capacity, he will work closely with partner cable operators, CableLabs and other industry partners. Prior to joining Canoe, Dilger spent seven years as Vice President of Technology for OpenTV’s Advertising Systems Group, where he was the chief architect for new products serving the television advertising industry. Prior to OpenTV, Dilger was President and founder of MicroBase Software Systems, Inc. Dilger began his career as a software engineer at Mohawk Data Sciences.
As VP of Data Architecture & Metrics, Domenic Centofanti will be responsible for technical strategy and architecture of all data elements, interfaces and models required to populate and enable Canoe’s advanced television systems, products and services. Centofanti joins the company from Iron Mountain, a leader in information management services, where he served as Director of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse. Prior to Iron Mountain, Centofanti was Director of Strategy within the Consulting Division at Amdocs, Vice President of Strategy and Enablement at DIGITAS, Vice President and Client Partner at Planet Soft/Zamba Solutions, and Senior Vice President of Relationship Management Systems Integration at Harte-Hanks, Inc.
Michael Iacovelli joins Canoe as Vice President of Platform and Product Development, reporting to Jim Turner, Senior Vice President of Product Management. Iacovelli will direct the strategy and development of Canoe’s core platform, as well as all industry integration services that drive the business. Iacovelli was most recently Chief Technical Officer of TTC Consulting. Previously, Iacovelli spent nine years at IDT Corporation as Senior Vice President, Engineering & Operations, responsible for the engineering, buildout, and operational support of the global hybrid TDM/VoIP network, Information Technology systems, system development, and data center infrastructure.
