Facebook is launching a new data product for marketers that shows what users are saying about brands, products, events and more. Dubbed “Topic Data,” the product could enhance marketing campaigns, says this Wall Street Journal article, but it also could provide data and research that might inform TV ads or bring in entirely new audiences.

The social network said Wednesday it’s launching a new data product called “Topic Data,” which will show marketers what users on Facebook are saying about brands, products, events, activities and other specific subjects.The idea is to let companies tap into Facebook’s vast trove of user data on an anonymous basis to learn more about what consumers like, think, and do, albeit on an anonymous basis.
