“Mobland,” Season 2, new eps Fridays,  streaming on Paramount +. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are having too much fun as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, veteran Irish gangsters operating around London without filters on their mouths or trigger fingers. Their seemingly high-class life camouflages that crime’s long been the family business, though Conrad’s daughter (the tantalizing Mandeep Dhillon), thinks the enterprise needs modernizing. Her high-wire act to effect change occupies much of Season 2’s plot, as does the personal life of the Harrigans’ security chief Harry (the wonderful Tom Hardy). Fortunately for the Harrigans, Harry’s a pro’s pro, calm, smart, strategic and loyal. He’s the Harrigans’ glue. Though as Conrad and Maeve’s haphazard antics increase the body count of London hoods, Harry’s stress increases. Viewers will enjoy the blood and guts highs of “Mobland,” or rebel in disgust.

“Nocturne,” new eps Fridays, streaming on Apple TV. Warning: this new series about a retired detective (Liev Schreiber) and a serial killer (Stephen Graham) moves at the pace of real police work, that’s to say glacially. Yet it’s hard to look away when Schreiber, Graham or the electric Zazie Beetz, as an FBI agent with ties to Schreiber’s character, are on screen. We’ll give “Nocturne” a positive nod for its realistic pace and cast and look forward to the rest of the season.
