Mom and pop cable operators weren’t the only visitors to the Independent Show’s Kansas City, MO, headquarters this week. President Obama visited the city on July 29, enjoying some barbecue at famed Arthur Bryant’s restaurant. Incidentally, Game Show Network’s evp of distribution Dale Hopkins and colleagues were dining there, in town for the NCTC show.

POTUS did his usual table-hopping, shaking hands with customers. He asked the GSN team why they were there and what the network’s new shows were. They told him about “American Bible Challenge,” and he asked if it was similar to “Jeopardy” but with questions on the Bible and Scripture. Indeed, it is. Obama’s response: “I would like that.”

Such approval warrants an invitation, of course. GSN has offered to set up a screening at the White House, to which the president acknowledged would be “great!”

White House Photographer Pete Souza sent out a tweet recording the exchange (see above), with Dale looking positively thrilled.
