Jason DeMarco
Jason DeMarco has been upped to vp and creative director, on-air for Adult Swim. He’ll head up creative development of on-air communication, promotion and sponsorships, oversee its internal structure and work with the net’s marketing team. Previously, DeMarco was vp of marketing and promotions for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, and before that he served as creative director, sales promotions for both networks. He began at the company as senior writer/producer for the Toonami programming block at Cartoon Network. He was also a production assistant to an associate producer at TNT. Jason tells us that as a music junkie, he’s most proud of founding Williams Street Records—the music extension of Adult Swim—and producing 9 albums over the last 5 years. Other fun facts about Jason: He has 2 cats and 2 dogs, all of which are shelter rescues and weigh less than 15 lbs. Also, he has a collection of Yoda action figures, which stands at 30 and counting.
Sheryl Harkins
TiVo Research and Analytics, Inc. (TRA) has hired former Nielsen exec Sheryl Harkins as svp of CPG sales. She’s worked at Nielsen for the past 17 years, moving from account executive in 1996 to svp of ad solutions sales and marketing. She also worked in media research for The Leo Burnett Company for 10 years. Sheryl tells us she co-authored a media planning textbook with her professor during her undergraduate work at University of Illinois. Another lesser-known fact about her: She initially had her eye on a career in biomedical engineering, but after her sister required one of the first liver transplants and it was not covered by insurance, she spent a summer fundraising—and then switched to advertising the following year.
Gary Perrelli
Advanced TV solutions company Ensequence has appointed Gary Perrelli as svp, interactive sales, content providers. In this capacity he’ll spearhead efforts with programmers to develop interactive TV experiences across platforms. Before joining the company he was vp, national accounts and affiliate advertising sales for Disney and ESPN Media Networks. Early on he also served as director of new business for ESPN as well as vp/area director for AT&T Broadband. Other stints include several positions at Cox Communications, including vp and gm of the New England Region. Gary is a big fan of golf, he tells us. His goal is to play the top 100 golf courses in the US. And having played 33 thus far, he’s well on his way. Another fact about Gary: He married the girl next door. They are celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary next week.
Brandon Ramsey
Fox Sports Digital has acquired the assets of the sports gaming start-up Fanhood and taken on board its key team members, including founder and CEO Brandon Ramsey. He’ll now fill the role of vp of platform engineering, Fox Sports Digital, which entails leading personalization and social product development. His team will join the crew at Fox Sports-owned Yardbarker to create a combined platform technology center in the Bay Area. Prior to Fanhood, Ramsey served as head engineer at Yahoo! Shopping, Yahoo! Deals and Yahoo! Travel.
