What’s a recent example of a step forward for diversity in the industry?
Speaking personally, I look around the leadership table at Altice and see great diversity. This warms my heart for someone that has been in the industry as long as I have. Industry wise I see and interact with many operators and vendors regularly and it is very noticeable the diversity that exists within their own organizations not only because it is the right thing to do, but because they have selected the best talent for their positions.
In what areas should the industry step up its efforts with regard to diversity and inclusion?
We must continue to focus on looking like an industry the younger generation wants to be part of, which includes working with Colleges & Universities to “educate” them on the tremendous opportunity that we represent while at the same time making sure that the importance of diversity is a key element that we communicate as an industry.
What’s your best advice to someone just entering the video content/distribution industry?
As the old adage goes, “patience is a virtue.” Our industry has a tremendous future ahead of it even in the midst of all the content options that seemingly pop up regularly. People coming into our industry should know that our capability has always evolved and now, with wireless, there is but another transformative opportunity for our industry.
