Promoted to his current position in 2017, Miller oversees Turner’s structuring and negotiating all of the company’s content distribution agreements of domestic networks across traditional and new media platforms in the US., Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Canada. In so doing, Miller doesn’t just focus on law. “The most significant challenges we are facing in our business are less legal in nature and STEM more from the rapidly evolving changes in the industry, such as consolidation, technology and product innovations, and consumer behavior,” he says.

What is your golden rule for negotiating?
Early in my career, I was taught to always try to place yourself in the shoes of the other party with whom you are negotiating; to try to see the deal from their perspective and to understand their goals, issues, and concerns. I think this is critically important as you work through issues at the negotiating table and try to find mutually agreeable compromises.
