She oversaw strategies in FNG’s pending employment case against Netflix, and was at the forefront of the company’s move to new platforms for digital distribution of content on YouTube TV, fuboTV, DirectTV Now and Hulu Live. Media mergers seem to be a rising trend at the start of 2018.
What is your golden rule for negotiating?
I always start out nice (good cop) – but everybody should know that nice does not equal pushover (bad cop). As one of my business executives once said “We love her. And fear her.”
If you could be remembered for just one case, which case would that be and why?
The classic: Tracy Ullman vs FOX over The Simpsons. One of the first jury trials where a Hollywood studio stood firm and tried a case against talent. I tried it, and 5 years later ended up in house at FOX.
What movie superhero would you most like to be and how would that character fit into the legal world of communications?
Well… I am already a Wonder Woman and she’s pretty bitchin’ so I’ll stick with that.
