Gomez oversees “Suits,” “Royal Pains,” and “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.” He also serves as the Universal Cable Productions business affairs lead for multiple projects in development where he negotiates on behalf of the studio. Aside from mentoring aspiring lawyers, he is an avid web coder, and has also tried his hand at directing an indie movie. On cable and diversity, Gomez says the jury’s still out. “There is sincere talk inside media companies about increasing diversity,” he says, “but the access to the industry (e.g., the training, the mentoring, the networking, etc.) is still controlled by a few gatekeepers who are less focused on diversity.”
