“My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” walks an incredible tightrope, making what appears to be a straight-forward romantic comedy series a deeply insightful and often deeply uncomfortable look into the intricacies of dating, love and relationships. The accolades heaped upon the show and its co-creator Rachel Bloom are well deserved. Her performance is telling a real story and exploring genuine issues, all while making us spit out our drinks in laughter. By the way, did we mention that the show is also a musical? It sometimes defies description, but you’re usually laughing too much to care. Until you do. While laughing. It’s complicated.
