As the world grapples with climate change and unpredictable changes to the Earth, The Weather Channel is helping inform, educate, inspire and highlight the planet’s progress with 24/7 streamer Pattrn. The FAST channel made its mark shortly after launch by providing gavel-to-gavel coverage of the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP26), hosted in Glasgow, Scotland. From November 1-12, it aired a whopping 104 hours of live speeches from the conference. An Atlanta-based production team worked in tandem with two crews on location to produce over 100 hours of original video content and capture over 100 event soundbites to replay when events were no longer live. The Weather Channel’s Stephanie Abrams hosted a daily recap, while social media helped complement the 12 days of 24-hour COP26 coverage. Social channels registered more than 16.5 million impressions during COP26. The team also has bolstered the new channel with a weekly newsletter devoted to climate-related content. With little to no promotion, the newsletter is currently distributed to more than 45,800 subscribers. It has generated over 3,000 organic social media clicks so far with an open rate as high as 22%.
