Who is a female athlete you admire and why? I admire Simone Biles for her courage in stepping back from the Tokyo Olympics to prioritize her mental health. It was such a brave decision that challenged the idea that athletes—or anyone—should push through, no matter what. As the mother of an 18-year-old girl, I find Simone’s story especially powerful as it sends a strong message to my daughter and her generation about the importance of putting their mental well-being first and knowing how to find balance in life.
