Marybeth Strobel

It’s not easy maintaining a positive, collaborative vibe during a period of extreme change, but Strobel did just that while overseeing the newly merged Discovery and WarnerMedia salesforce. “‘Who Moved My Cheese?’ was a book suggested to me early in my career that I continue to refer to for simple leadership lessons as we manage through change and uncertainty. Sniff and Scurry!”

As a woman who grew up with Barbie, what was your reaction to Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie? I loved watching this movie with my colleagues. It was an opportunity to reflect on both how far we’ve come, but also how far we still have to go. Gloria’s monologue was an emotional reminder that there is no perfect, there is “good enough.” Adventure, curiosity and discovery, with friends by your side, is the spice to life as you try to figure it all out.

How do you know when it is time to take a risk at your job or in your career? Whenever I hear opportunity for something new knocking at the door.

How do you de-stress? Jogging with my pup and snuggling with my kids. The smile on a dog and the unbiased, simple perspective of a sleepy child keep me balanced.

What is something you learned by mentoring someone? I owe much of my recent career advancements to the amazing women I have mentored. They brought me on their journey and ultimately wound up guiding me through new opportunity, sharing their stories of agility, resilience, and change management. Together, we ventured new territory and taught one another about the different life stages we were experiencing.
