Trueblood has been busy at Boingo Wireless, with an international launch, a roll out of a skinny bundle and Wi-Five technology, and a revamp to Boingo’s digital UI. She was responsible for helping drive the launch of Boingo Broadband internationally in Japan and transitioning Boingo’s traditional TV lineup to a “skinny” basic via a massive digital marketing campaign. Moreover, a redesign of Boingo’s sales portal increased average cart value, improved conversion rate and significantly improved the mobile checkout experience. “I love working in a fast-paced environment where I can solve problems on a daily basis and, in this industry, there is always something new to tackle,” she says. “I am also blown away by the incredibly smart people that I get to work with. There is never a dull moment in tech!”
What have been your biggest professional accomplishments to date?
I recently worked on a project to rebuild our My Account site from the ground up. I’m most proud of this project because I was able to work cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, UX, Engineering, and Creative to develop a site that truly meets our customers’ needs. We started by congregating in a room, thoroughly discussing our customer personas, and coming up with ideas that would improve their experience. This was followed by countless meetings at “the Wall” where we discussed user journeys and wrote technical requirements. The results of this speak for themselves; we were able to drastically improve the user experience, reduce call volume, increase average revenue per user, and align our branding.
What attracted you to this industry?
I was attracted to technology because of the industry’s inherent emphasis on innovation. I love working in a fast-paced environment where I can solve problems on a daily basis and, in this industry, there is always something new to tackle. I am also blown away by the incredibly smart people that I get to work with. There is never a dull moment in tech!
Best piece of professional advice you’ve received?
Meet and talk to as many people as you can across your organization. Learning from people in different disciplines expands your professional network, raises your visibility, and helps you better understand the big picture.
What is your favorite app these days?
I love Yelp’s EAT24 app, which I use at least once a week to order delivery. Their brand voice is incredible and always keeps me engaged (and chuckling) throughout the order process. The loading screen says things like “Drinking Nutella…” and the empty cart message is “Your cart is hungry. Fill with yums.” They also have a live timer that lets you know when your food is cooking and when it hits the road.
Favorite trending hashtag?
I’m very interested in learning more about user experience design so lately I’ve been following #uxdesign. It’s all about creating products that enhance user satisfaction.
What product or service can you not live without?
I can’t remember life before Amazon Prime. Same day shipping, grocery delivery, music, and movies at your fingertips. With my busy schedule, it’s a lifesaver.
