Turner experienced another banner year under Martin’s leadership, earning record revenue of $12.1 billion and maintaining three of the top five ad-supported cable nets in primetime—TBS, TNT and Adult Swim—in the A18-49 demo. Martin has been steadily shifting the company’s focus to use new tech to deliver fan-first experiences, including enhancing AI, AR and VR capabilities in Turner Sports’ March Madness VR coverage and CNN’s 360-degree VR livestream of the 2017 solar eclipse. He’s equally focusing efforts on data-driven metrics for targeted advertising opportunities, highlighting the efficacy of TV and resurgence of broadcast ad dollars with guaranteed audience and measurable performance deliverables. And he’s investing and partnering with new entities—including a new rights agreement with UEFA, the governing body of European football as a means to annex new audiences.
