The temptation to make Picasso’s opening sequence an expression of the cubism for which the great artist was so well known must have been overwhelming. However, the NatGeo series found a less obvious way to evoke the artists’ life in motion graphics. With swaths of slap-dash color, strong brushstroke-like wipes, and a disjointed, frenetic pace, the opening portrays the artistry and conflict of Picasso’s life without taking the easy way out.
