After leading Scripps’ $2 billion acquisition of Poland’s TVN, Gibson has played a major role in its integration into Scripps Networks. With Discovery’s pending acquisition of Scripps, she is undoubtedly hard at work to ensure the smooth closure of the deal. Gibson also served as Scripps’ public face when the company decided to join Tennessee Thrives—a movement opposing legislation that limits the rights of the LGBT community in the state—and is an advocate for diversity in the industry. “I am proud that Scripps has participated in the Mercer Survey, which is critical to measure the industry’s progress for diversity, including gender equality. Measuring progress keeps us accountable,” she says.

The continued expansion of digital video consumption will continue to dominate industry headlines as it provides greater opportunities for content companies to distribute content.
What is one way the industry can continue to evolve in ridding itself of gender discrimination?

If the participation rate were higher, the industry would have a more widespread mechanism for that accountability.
