Nat Geo has had a tremendous year, and much of that can be attributed to Monroe’s leadership. She helped initiate the largest rebrand in the network’s history last November with a focus on premium scripted content. Her commitment to developing and producing content in collaboration with A-level creative talent has brought success to the network, including the premiere of its first-ever scripted anthology series “Genius” this April. “Genius” quickly became the most-viewed series in the channel’s history. Monroe has instilled in those she works with the power of storytelling and its ability to change the world and start global conversations. She mentors several young women within the industry and advises them to never get distracted or deterred by gender, as no one can argue with good, hard work.
