Chris Egan

Egan was at the forefront of two expanded partnerships for Evolution Digital. First, a preferred development partnership with TiVo to provide service providers with the extension of its offering for the TiVo managed IPTV solution on both the EVO FORCE 1 and FUSE 4K devices. Second, a new go-to-market model for channel partners and ODMs to allow CSPs the ability to purchase OpenSync-certified CPE and subscriptions to Plume’s consumer services.

Was Charter’s Disney deal precedent setting? Yes—subscribers don’t want to dig through 500 different channels and programmers to find the content that they want to watch. By bundling so many channels together into one service, the customer has a better viewing experience that increases their satisfaction. In addition, service providers can offer the streaming service to reduce costs by avoiding “programming double dipping” which, in turn, enables the subscriber to reduce monthly payments.

Favorite way to de-stress? Being anywhere on the water.

Business speak phrase or buzzword I find most annoying: “Out-of-the-box”

Do you personally still have a traditional cable video package? Yes. I recently moved houses and was torn on whether or not I should cut the cord or stick with a managed video subscription. Being the old dog that I am, I went with traditional cable.

What celebrity would you hire for your company and why? Mark Cuban. I’m a sports fan and he seems like an incredibly intelligent guy who takes risks and can fund them.
