Celia Bouza

Bouza has had a transformative impact on ESPN by relaunching its NEXT program, aimed at fostering growth and professional development for early-career, high-potential employees in the content space. The reimagination was in response to industry trends, evolving a traditionally linear program to give production assistants and content associates the chance to work across multiple platforms, including social and digital. Now she’s on her own transformation journey, moving into her new role in August, where she and her team oversee video in ESPN.com, ESPN App, YouTube and social platforms.

“I recommend “A Touch More,” hosted by legends Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe. While it’s not a traditional “leadership” podcast, many of the best leaders I work with are women who played sports. The topics and guests always leave me more informed and challenge my thinking. Bonus: one of my best friends, Jasmine Ellis, is the executive producer.”

What’s a skill you’re currently working on? (work-related or non-work-related) The same week my oldest started kindergarten, my organization announced I’d be transitioning to a new role—and it was tough. I pride myself on handling transitions well and even welcoming them! But these were two big changes colliding at once. I’m working on change management by staying steady, calm, and optimistic and by leaning on my mentors and family, and reminding myself that I can do hard things.
