Not only did Kasai position Spectrum Enterprise as a primary service provider in the enterprise space, he increased marketing lead production 43%, year-over-year. He also headed the marketing push introducing the Spectrum Smart Cities initiative, emphasizing how the technology can help those communities solve real-world issues. He knows talent can come from anywhere, if you look for it. “Outreach is hugely important,” Kasai says. “We partner with our recruiting teams to get the word out, which helps us bring in the best candidates in terms of both knowledge and diversity of perspective, with varying job and industry experience.”
What does your company/organization do to ensure all employees feel included?
Charter is committed to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture. To do that, employees need opportunities to work together and to get to know each other across different offices and various levels. Face-to-face meetings and video conference calls can help bring everyone together. On my team, regular all-team video calls give us a chance to provide business updates, share organizational changes, and showcase individual success to peers and leaders. These calls also ensure that all employees know that each and every one of us contribute to the success of the business.
How can diversity be better incorporated into the recruiting process?
Gathering a broad, diverse pool of candidates helps us build teams that understand the needs of the communities and businesses we serve. We want the smartest and most talented people from all backgrounds. Outreach is hugely important. We partner with our recruiting teams to get the word out, which helps us bring in the best candidates in terms of both knowledge and diversity of perspective, with varying job and industry experience. It is also important that outreach is not just external-facing, but also includes internal outreach. We regularly share open positions across our teams and post jobs both internally and externally.
Can you share a successful diversity program at your company or one you’ve observed at another company or organization?
We identify high potential and diverse team members for inclusion in professional development programs. We have successfully sent a number of high potential individuals to WICT and NAMIC leadership programs.
