As M&A discussions swirled around the company, Bakish continued to steer the Paramount Global ship toward risk mitigation, stabilization and a return to growth—a feat that has not gone unnoticed by Wall Street. Super Bowl LVIII, which aired on CBS, was the most-watched telecast in history, CBS remains the most-watched broadcast network and Jon Stewart’s return to Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” on Mondays pumped new energy into the network. On the streaming side, new thinking is yielding optimistic results. The airing on Paramount+ of select NFL games, including the playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, has been a big win in wooing new subscribers to the service.
