Amazon clearly liked it what it saw in Cheng when he stepped in as interim co-head of TV after Roy Price was ousted in 2017. The company opted to officially make the position permanent for the Emmy-winning executive in January. He has a strong business background, which will serve him well as he leads Amazon’s television division with oversight of the business, creative and production units. Cheng’s goal is to make sure Amazon Prime customers, who visit the site to buy a variety of products, are aware there’s also a variety of quality programming a mere click away. “The sky’s the limit,” he noted to critics at TCA last summer.
