National Geographic consulted with the FDNY Foundation and arranged for baked goods, including cookies and brownies, to be delivered to 420 stations across all five boroughs of New York in August 2021 to pay tribute to the brave first responders who saved lives on 9/11. The initiative was tied to the premiere of landmark documentary series “9/11: One Day in America,” which reflected on the attacks 20 years earlier. Each baked good was sealed with a branded sticker, and the package included a thank-you card as well as information on the series.
