Based in L.A., Mashariki oversees both BET and Centric programming. And she has spearheaded some big Hollywood movies, including “Secret Life of Bees” and “The Last King of Scotland.” New programming she has brought to BET Networks includes “Chasing Destiny,” “Zoey Ever After” and a new season of “Being Mary Jane” with new executive producer Will Packer. Mashariki co-founded the African Grove Institute for the Arts (AGIA), the first national black theater organization, and is a faculty member at the University of Southern California teaching advanced producing.
