Why Him? Negotiations may get heated, but Beaty always keeps his cool. As someone who has been in the industry since 1974, he has witnessed and spearheaded numerous new and innovative products and services and navigated the competitive waters with few ripples. As vice chairman of NCTC, he is also making a difference at the group, helping it get more involved in services like VOD and over-the-top video.
I wish Congress would just… update the antiquated communication laws that were enacted before there was an Internet.
The technology that will most benefit cable over the next year is: SMA (Security-Monitoring-Automation). The Internet of things using next generation Internet connectivity will expand today’s Security-Monitoring-Automation systems exponentially over the next five years. On World, a technology research firm, predicts that 50 million buildings globally (mostly residential) will be equipped for automation by 2018. Forward-thinking cable operators will take advantage of this burgeoning opportunity to drive new revenue.
