As senior technical leader for Cablevision, Thompson is responsible for the management and maintenance of the latest software and firmware on customer premise equipment. His efforts have helped the company deploy industry leading initiatives, continuing the company’s transformation to become a premiere connectivity company. Genuinely passionate about mentoring, Thompson gives career guidance to over 20 youths at his church. “Success,” he says, “is the acknowledgement that you have the ability, skills, persistence and perseverance to change your life and your world.”
How do you define diversity?
Diversity is an openness and willingness to listen to various viewpoints, ideas and thoughts from people of different backgrounds, be it race, age, sex, economic, or life experience. Diversity is cultivating a culture of inclusiveness that fosters the importance of listening, embracing, promoting and nurturing a spectrum of viewpoints.
How do you define success?
Success is the acknowledgement that you have the ability, skills, persistence and perseverance to change your life and your world. It is less about accomplishment and more about recognizing that you have been endowed with the capabilities to accomplish your visions, dreams and goals. I measure success in terms of how I can help make another person’s life better. Success is the mindset and passion that leads to the accomplishments.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
Connectivity with an emphasis on broadband. With the shift in consumer behavior to viewing across multiple platforms and services, the one common factor is that it requires bandwidth to be delivered. That’s why we’re focused on being the premier connectivity company in the New York market.
