Timothy Chavez
Manager (MTV Integrated Marketing), Viacom Velocity
Solutions-oriented Chavez is the resident expert for any gaming RFP that comes to Viacom Velocity. He has helped close new business for firms including 3M, for which he helped run the company’s SXSW activation, and Papa Johns, for which Chavez created a custom Super Bowl spot tied in with irreverent series “Guy Code.” The advice he holds dear? “Everyone has a perspective. Acknowledge it, understand it, and respect it.”
What makes you most excited about this industry as you advance in your career?
The changing television landscape and the focus on producing quality content. I think we’re at a tipping point for television and there have never been so many opportunities to expand and bring quality content to almost anyone, anywhere, at any time.
What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
Everyone has a perspective. Acknowledge it, understand it, and respect it.
What tech item or social platform could/couldn’t you live without?
Right now, the best way for me to keep in touch with my family is through Snapchat. My parents love it. My family is all in New Mexico, so it’s easy for my parents to send videos of where they’re traveling next and to see my 1 year old niece every day in some capacity.
