In her expanded role, McAvoy has greatly improved Crown Media’s brand visibility. Most saliently, her vision to rebrand Hallmark Movie Channel to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is taking the net to new heights in ratings and delivery. She also serves as Crown Media’s key liaison with Hallmark Cards and played an integral role in the development of the two companies’ first-ever production collaboration, last year’s “Northpole.” Staying off email on the weekends and during vacation is one way McAvoy balances her personal and professional time.

 

What’s the most important aspect of mentoring?

Being available to every person on my team and really listening to them – to their thoughts, ideas and needs.

 

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

Staying off email on the weekends and during vacation to really focus on family time. It’s short and goes by too fast so you don’t want to miss it.

 

Your favorite trick for unwinding?

Taking a walk and calling my kids to see how their day is going. Hearing their happy voices always brings a smile.
