2013 was the first full calendar year Swain and Kennedy served as co-presidents and co-CEOs of C-SPAN. Best known for live gavel-to-gavel coverage of the US Congress—one of last year’s highlights being Senator Rand Paul’s 12-hour and 52-minute filibuster—Swain and Kennedy embody C-SPAN’s mission to provide Americans with objective information, including the C-SPAN Video Library that in 2013 became the largest accessible political collection in the world, with 200,000-plus hours of programming. They also launched a documentary series, “First Ladies: Image & Influence,” hosted by Swain herself.
