Over the past year, Peery has negotiated carriage agreements and renewals with several MSOs, putting UP in the top 25 DMAs. She’s also responsible for negotiating several programming acquisition agreements that include VOD and TVE rights. Her road ahead includes developing a comprehensive OTT rights acquisition/distribution strategy. Her definition of success: “Coming to work every day and feeling challenged, engaged and appreciated.”

How can cable do better job at supporting the industry’s women?

Encourage diversity in Board of Director roles, which continue to skew heavily male.

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

Industry consolidation continues to be the biggest story, and specifically the pending mega-mergers involving four of the largest distributors.

How do you define a successful career?

Coming to work every day and feeling challenged, engaged and appreciated.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

Give yourself permission to make major career decisions based on your most important priorities at any given point in time, versus what others expect you to do.

When not in the office, where are we most likely to find you?

Volunteering in the theatre/fine arts department at my kids’ school, but only for a few more months—I am very close to having an empty nest!
