Working with more than 50 affiliate partners, Glashow oversees distribution of Discovery’s linear and online programming. Event programming, like Shark Week and “Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda,” helped drive a 30 percent YOY increase in digital streams among syndication partners. On the horizon? “The momentum TVE is gaining is a big story that we will be watching,” she says.
How can cable do better job at supporting the industry’s women?
The industry should continue to support women through increased attention to important leadership development and educational initiatives, like the WICT Senior Executive Summit at Stanford this past spring. Discovery Communications does a great job of dedicating efforts to developing female leadership through Employee Resource Groups such as the Discovery Women’s Leadership Network, driving development opportunities for women at all levels of their career.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
Of course, industry consolidation was the big story in cable this year (and continues to be) but we also saw lots of buzz around the great proliferation of OTT entrants looking for quality programming content like Discovery’s. Additionally, the momentum TVE is gaining is a big story that we will be watching in Q4 and as we enter 2015.
How do you define a successful career?
I think the definition of a successful career is having a strong passion for what you do.

Spending time with my husband and three daughters.
