Raymond Lau

Manager, International Marketing Solutions, ESPN

Lau develops custom marketing solutions across ESPN’s international territories and has managed key global projects including Basketball Capitals presented by Turkish Airlines and the game changing 2014 FIFA World Cup. Expect much more from him as he continues to explore untapped global markets. “With the continued globalization of various sports and media, it is an exciting time to be involved with international business,” he says.

What makes you most excited about this industry as you advance in your career?

What makes me the most excited about my industry as I advance in my career is the continued opportunity for international growth and the ability to create solutions for clients within various markets. I’ve quickly learned that each market comes with its own strengths, challenges, and opportunities, and it is exciting to help grow ESPN’s presence and partnerships around the world. With the continued globalization of various sports and media, it is an exciting time to be involved with international business.

What would be your ultimate dream job?

My ultimate dream job would still be involved with international business, but with the ability to expand beyond sales and marketing through focuses such as programming, syndication, and business development.

Who has been your biggest mentor and why?

My biggest mentor has been my friend and former co-worker who has been able to provide both career and life advice despite not being in the exact same professional field as I. The perspective he provides has been valuable to me throughout the years because he thinks outside of the world of sales and marketing.

What three things can’t you live without?

My Passport – because I believe in expanding horizons, exploring the world and learning about other cultures.

Video Games – whether it be movies, TV, literature, music or anything else, I believe it’s always healthy to take a mental escape and video games is my personal way to do so.

Dogs – because of the unconditional love, happiness, and companionship they provide and because the world would be a very sad place without them.
