Oxygen helped generate buzz by holding panel luncheons for press moderated by leaders in the African-American church community. It took advantage of events such as the BET Awards and Essence Festival to showcase the series. At the Central Park SummerStage Gospel Explosion in NYC, concert-goers were enjoyed trailers, performances, and other glimpses of the show. The full court press paid off, with Preachers becoming the highest rated freshman series in network history among P25-54. It also drew the most diverse audience in Oxygen history.
