Nomi Bergman
Bergman has been president of Bright House Networks since 2007 and was part of the senior management team at Advanced Newhouse when it launched Bright House in 2003. Throughout her career, she has worked to involve more women in technology and was instrumental in the creation of the SCTE/WICT mentoring initiative for women in technology, Women’s TechConnect. Bergman seeks happiness and contentment, rather than “balance” between her professional and personal lives. To achieve this, she’s found it particularly helpful to “embrace the decisions I make, move forward without regret and make sure I enjoy each moment.”
How can cable do better job at supporting the industry’s women?
We can do better at embracing what women can bring to our industry. The Kauffman Foundation recently reported that when women run tech companies, they achieve a 35% higher ROI than their male counterparts. Let’s encourage and support female-led entrepreneurialism at one end of the spectrum, and on the other end, it would be great to see more successful and proven female senior executives added to corporate boards.
How do you define a successful career?
I always think success really comes down to how I feel about myself, and my actions, when I look in the mirror each night. Do I feel good about myself and about how I lead my day?
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
I seek happiness and contentment rather than “balance.” To achieve this, I have found it particularly helpful to embrace the decisions I make, move forward without regret and make sure I enjoy each moment.
When not in the office, where are we most likely to find you?
When I am not in the office, I am most often with my family – enjoying the outdoors or sitting in a coffee shop.
