Nick Grad is President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, oversees all original programming for FX, FXX and FXM, and is head of business and entertainment operations for FX Productions.
Most recently, Grad developed the critically-acclaimed hit drama Fargo starring Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman as well as dramas Tyrant and The Strain. Grad previously served as Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development for FX. He joined FX as Vice President of Series Development in May of 2002. After becoming head of the network’s original programming in 2005, Grad developed FX’s drama series, The Bridge, plus the critically-acclaimed drama The Americans, the Emmy®, Golden Globe® and SAG Award-winning miniseries American Horror Story, the Emmy Award-winning Justified, the critically-acclaimed Terriers, the smash-hit Sons of Anarchy, and the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning Damages. He also developed the critically-acclaimed comedies Archer, Emmy-winner Louie, The League and Wilfred. As SVP of Drama and Comedy Series Development for FX, Grad was heavily involved in the development of a variety of network programs, including the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated drama series Rescue Me, the acclaimed hit comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Emmy Award-winner Thief, the acclaimed drama Over There, and the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning hit drama Nip/Tuck. In 2011 he was named one of Broadcasting & Cable’s Next Wave of Leaders.
Prior to joining FX, Grad worked for Columbia TriStar Television from 1995-2002, rising to the position of Vice President of Comedy Development in 1999. At Columbia TriStar he developed The King of Queens for CBS, and Action and The Tick for FOX. He began his career in programming at FOX in 1992. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
