Systems Engineer, Cisco

Nikoo is not only a systems engineer, but a problem solver and team player. Within his first six months, he helped drive more than $5 million of revenue, and was a result of his knowledge of development operations tools, Python Scripting and app development. He is able to take customer needs and translate that into a working product, and has especially excelled with his sports clients. He is so dedicated to improving his skills that during his first three months, Nikoo received his Cisco Certified Networking Associate in Routing and Switching while maintaining full-time status and thriving in his role. In terms of a workplace culture, “having a transparent and honest work environment is very important,” he says.

What sort of culture is important to you in the workplace?

A workplace culture is very important to the success of an organization. In my opinion, having a transparent and honest work environment is very important. This allows everyone to give constructive feedback to each other and thrive in the work environment.

What product or service can you not live without?

The product to me that I personally could not live without is my smartphone. The ability to have everything I need on one device that I can bring with me anywhere I go is truly amazing.

What is the most exciting thing about working in this industry?

The most exciting thing about working in the media industry is the current evolution of technology that is transforming the entire industry. Millennials are streaming content from mobile devices, laptops, etc. This is changing the way that content is being distributed to the end user (4K, IP, etc.). The result of this is better picture quality, personalized advertising, and the ability to get the content to a user at any time, on any device to name a few. It will be very interesting to see where the industry will go as a result (Skinny Bundling, Cable Cutting, M&A, etc.).
