Myrna Soto
Since a mentor steered Soto into the area of technology security, she has been committed to protecting Comcast’s infrastructure, tools and employees, especially in light of a multitude of threats poised against multinational companies. This past spring, she helped establish the Center of Excellence for Security Innovation (CSI) at The University of Connecticut. Her ideal job candidate? Someone with strong business acumen, who’s willing to take risks, learn new things and bring innovative ideas to the table.

Who has been your strongest mentor, and why?
My strongest mentor was a previous boss at a previous company who challenged me to take on responsibilities outside of my comfort zone. I have him to Thank for steering me into the area of Security of Technologies and was a strong supporter of women in the technology ranks. I attribute his genuine advocacy as he was a father of daughters who he very much wanted to make sure his daughters had the same opportunities he had in STEM fields.
What qualities do you look for when making a new hire?
Strong business acumen, willing to take risks, learn new things and bring innovative ideas to the table.
