Williams’ knack for creative problem solving has made her an indispensable part of NBCU’s content distribution group. Among her many other accomplishments, she led her team in analyzing and planning the content discovery ecosystem and developed guidelines to bolster NBCU’s metadata to drive MVPD recommendation engines. All of this occurred simultaneously as Williams and her team were preparing to meet the demands of the Rio Summer Olympics. When asked what technology will most benefit the industry in the near term, she says, “A streamlined, simpler user interface for consumers.” Easier said than done… unless you’re Williams.

What grade do you give the cable industry on diversity and why?
I would rate the industry a 5. There is definitely progress being made, but there’s still a ways to go.

The technology that will most benefit cable over the next year is…
A streamlined, simpler user interface for consumers.

What television show/s – cable or broadcast  – best embrace diversity?
“Empire,” “Fresh off the Boat,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Suits,” “Master of None”

My personal election campaign slogan would be…
“Becoming the Bridge to Tomorrow’s Leaders.” Bold. Bright. Brave. Vote for Monica Williams. #challengethestatusquo

Favorite charity organization you work with?
It would have to be A Window Between Worlds (AWBW). It’s an organization that is dedicated to supporting a network of transformative arts programs that empower individuals impacted by violence and trauma.
